Why would anyone need proof of address in the UAE?

This common, long-accepted practice, not a whim or a "suspicious demand." States and banks have always required proof of residence—previously, it was paper certificates, now it's documents.

Main reasons:

     The address confirms a real presence and not a fictitious company.

   The address is needed to:

You will need to submit one or more of the following documents along with a copy of your Emirates ID to prove where you reside in the UAE:

1. Lease Agreement (Ejari): This is the most common and widely accepted document. Please provide a copy of your official lease agreement registered in the Ejari system.

3. What to provide: A copy of the contract showing your full name and address.
4. Utility bill (e.g. DEWA, FEWA, or Empower): A recent bill (within the last 2-3 months) for water and electricity in your name, showing your full address.
5. Telecom bill (e.g. Etisalat or Du): A recent monthly landline telephone or internet bill made out in your name and address.
6. Recent bank statement: A bank statement from a UAE bank sent to your physical address. It must be no older than three months.

Important note: The name on your proof of address must match the name on your passport and Emirates ID.
