Who can apply?

If you are a Russian citizen and hold a UAE residence visa, you can apply for a short-term Schengen visa (up to 90 days) to travel to Romania through the Romanian Consulate in Dubai.

Required documents

1. Visa application form

✔ A completed and signed official application form.

2. Photos

✔ Two color photographs (3x4 cm) on a white background.

3. International passport

✔ A valid passport, valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned date of departure from Romania.

4. Residence permit in the UAE

✔ Copy of UAE Residence Visa valid for at least 3 months after planned departure from Romania.

5. Employment verification

✔ A letter from your employer (in English or Romanian) confirming your position, salary, purpose of travel and return date.

6. Financial security

✔ Original bank statements for the last 6 months (bank stamp is required).

7. Booking a trip

✔ Confirmed air tickets and hotel reservations or invitation from the host in Romania.

8. Medical insurance

✔ A policy with coverage of at least €30,000 for the entire period of stay in the Schengen area.

Application process

1️⃣ Online application – registration on the official eVisa website (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania).

2️⃣ To make an appointment – you must make an appointment at the Romanian Consulate in Dubai.

3️⃣ Submission of documents – personal presence is required.

4️⃣ Application review takes from 2 to 6 weeks.

Important points:

Current restrictions:

✔ As of July 2024, some European countries have suspended issuing visas to Russian citizens. However, Romania has resumed issuing short-term visas to Russian citizens at the discretion of the consulate.

✔ Before submitting your application, please be sure to check with the Consulate General for up-to-date information.

ETIAS authorization:

✔ From 2025 onwards, travellers from visa-free countries will be required to obtain an ETIAS authorisation before entering the Schengen area.

✔ This does not currently apply to Russian citizens, but it is recommended to stay tuned as the rules may change.
